As a boy, Ben had an interest in martial arts. During high school he began training in Karate. He trained for many years with Kyoshi Tommy May in Isshinryu Karate. Later, Ben discovered Chinese martial arts. Since 1999, he has trained Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan, Qigong, and Meditation with Robert Thompson and Jingshan Tang.
Ben enjoys teaching and maintains a fun atmosphere in class. He coaches the student in the foundations of Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan, teaching Yang Style Short Form, Long Form, and various weapons forms. Ben also teaches various Qigong forms, focusing on health and balance. Though self defense is not taught, the classes do include the martial art principles of Tai Chi Chuan. In addition, he has also developed programs for seniors to improve balance, strength, and wellness. Ben has developed various stress management programs based on Qigong and Meditation.
Ben is the director of Strength From Within. He has a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Manhattan College and is employed as an engineering consultant. In addition, Ben is a Reiki Master and offers private sessions in Bucks and Montgomery counties.
Lisa is the director and head instructor of Native Moon Universal Arts. She has been a student of Tai Chi Chuan since 1994. Lisa began studying the Yang Style Short Form from her husband, Robert Thompson. Since that time, Lisa has studied the Yang Style Long Form, Tai Chi Fan Form, and Tai Chi Sword Form. In addition, she has studied various Qigong forms and meditation. Lisa has been teaching Tai Chi since 2002.
Along with teaching the Yang Style Short Form, Long Form, and weapons forms, Lisa also teaches various Qigong forms, including Eight Pieces of Brocade. Each class includes stretching and joint opening exercises, as well as fundamentals of balance and motion. Lisa teaches beginners and advanced classes.
In addition to her Tai Chi and Qigong practice, Lisa also teaches Belly Dancing. She has studied both Cabaret and American Tribal Styles since 2001. Lisa teaches at various locations in Bucks and Montgomery Counties.
